Chapman, Nicholson Hold SIRC Lead Following Lakeside 5K

Two more races to go before overall champions are crowned.

(Brookville, Ind.) – Four races down, two to go.

The 13th annual Lakeside 5K took place last Saturday in Brookville. The race was the fourth of six races in the Southeastern Indiana Racing Circuit.

Kyle Stanley, 18, of Falmouth, was the winner with a time of 17:30. Geno Combs (39, Freetown) and Jake Chapman (15, Batesville) rounded out the top three.

For the third straight week, Versailles native Lanie Nicholson was the top performing female placing 10th overall (19:53).

Rachel Campbell (18, Lawrenceburg) and Emma Hartley (17, Lawrenceburg) placed second and third in the female division.

Through four races, Jake Chapman remains at the top of the male leaderboard with an average time of 18:05. His best performance came at the Trojan Trot (17:41) on July 9.

Bradyn Hatton, 15, of Lawrenceburg, is second overall with an average time of 18:35, followed by 15-year-old Oldenburg native Isaac Trossman (19:04).

Lanie Nicholson has a big lead in the female division with an average time of 19:29. Emma Hartley ranks second (20:47) followed by Rachel Campbell (21:18).

The fifth SIRC race takes place Saturday, July 30 in Milan. Registration for the Indian Trails 5K is open at Stuart Road Racing LLC.

All proceeds from the race benefits the host school’s cross-country team.
