The Lawrenceburg native has become one of the best punters in college football.
(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - As just a redshirt sophomore at Ohio State University, Drue Chrisman has already proved to be one of the best punters in college football.
The Lawrenceburg native was forced to punt nine times in Ohio State’s come from behind 27-26 win at Penn State on September 29.
Each of the nine punts were crucial to Ohio State’s comeback and also earned Chrisman last week’s Ray Guy Award, reports www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com.
Four of Chrisman's punts were dropped inside Penn State’s 20-yard line, and the Nittany Lions average starting position after Chrisman punts was at their own 18-yard line. Chrisman finished the game with a 47.9-yard average, which happens to be a career best.
This season, the Buckeyes star punter is averaging 44.6 yards per punt, which is good for 15th in the nation and 2nd in the Big Ten.
Chrisman was a Ray Guy Punter of the Year Award semi-finalist last season and was placed on the Ray Guy Preseason Watch List to start the 2018 season.
