EC, Batesville Capture EIAC Cross Country Titles

The EIAC Championship was held Saturday at Batesville.

(Batesville, Ind.) – Conference champions were crowned at the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship.

East Central captured the EIAC Girls Cross Country Championship with a score of 23. Batesville finished as the runner-up with 32 points, while Rushville, Greensburg, and South Dearborn rounded out the standings.

Connersville, Franklin County, and Lawrenceburg each had incomplete teams.

The individual champion was East Central junior Callie Bentley (18:26.2). The Trojans had four others place in the top 10. They are Jena Weiler (2nd), Adeline Brewer (5th), Alyssa Donaworth (7th), and Emily Klem (8th).

Batesville’s top runners were Kaylinn Bedel (3rd), Lexiyne Harris (4th), Jayla Bedel (6th), Paige Allgeier (9th) and Caitlin Raver (10th).

Batesville’s boys dominated on their way to capturing an EIAC title. The Bulldogs finished with a score of 30. The next best team was Rushville with 67 points.

Greensburg placed 3rd, followed by East Central, South Dearborn, Connersville, and Lawrenceburg.

Jake Chapman was the individual champion with a time of 16:19.5. Fellow Bulldogs Cannon Clark and Isaac Trossman placed in the top 5.

East Central’s Braydn Hatton had a great showing, placing 4th, and South Dearborn’s Tegan Burk was 6th.
