(St. Leon, Ind.) - Former East Central Trojan Erika Wells is doing big things at the collegiate level.

This week, Wells was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week. The Illinois State sophomore assisted on all three Redbird goals last week - helping lead the team to an unbeaten week with a win and a draw.

Wells had two assists in a 2-1 comeback win over Valparaiso. Against Murray State, she set up the tying goal in the 87th minute off a corner kick.

Wells has played 289 minutes over seven matches for the Redbirds.

At East Central, Wells was a four-time EIAC Conference Champion and 3X Sectional champion. Upon her graduation in 2023, she was the assist record-holder (48) and ranks top-ten in career points (106) and goals (29) in program history. Other accolades include being a two-year team captain and two-time Academic All-State Selection

The Redbirds are back in action this Sunday when they host Indiana State at Adelaide Street Field. The match can be viewed on ESPN+ at 1:00 p.m.
