East Central 5, Franklin County 0 – EC earned a sweep and coach Scott Kluener’s 300th victory. #1 singles Chase Lambrinides defeated Jack Stern 6-0, 6-2. #2 singles Brody Taylor defeated Kurt Oetzel 6-1, 6-2. #3 singles Logan Huisman defeated Nick Wendel 6-0, 6-0. #1 doubles Cole Davidson and Zach Bovard defeated Will Wade and Lonnie Schwartz 3-6, 1-6. #2 doubles Josh Hudepohl and Gavin Daniels defeated Ethan Ball and Brandon Snyder 6-0, 6-2.

East Central and Franklin County met for a dual cross country competition Thursday. EC won both the girls and boys races and team titles. Emile Wedding of East Central won the ladies’ race in a time of 21:50. She was followed by her teammate Lauren Greiwe in second, with a time of 22:09. Franklin County was led by Lauren Kelley in third place at 22:11. EC’s Garrett Ardis bon the boys race in a time of 18:46. He was followed by an EC freshman Michael Schwebach with a time of 19:04. FC’s Kyle Siebert finished at 20:11 for third place. East Central coach Fr. Jonathan Meyer said “Overall it was a night of team success but also 13 of the runners ran their season best times. This is a great sign of a good season to come!”
Batesville won the boys and girls Ripley County Cross Country Meet championship on Thursday. South Ripley’s Megan Cole was the first-place runner in the girls competition, completing the course in Versailles in 19:20. Batesville was led by freshman Lily Pickney was second and 20:15 and Elizabeth Loichinger was third at 20:39. Batesville’s Ean Loichinger was the boys title winner, leading the Bulldogs to the team victory. Teammates Adam Moster and Joshua Myers were second and third, respectively. East Central 7, Connersville 0 – The Trojans lit up the scoreboard. Lauren deLong had two goals. Also scoring single goals were Taylor Whitehead, Josie Mattlin, Eva Grimm, and Taylor Hall. Goalkeeper Mary Brewington made one save for EC to preserve the shutout.
Batesville 5, Seymour 1 – Carlie Warner netted three goals for Batesville. Georgia Gratz and Denise Davalos also scored for the Bulldogs. Keeper Ellie Waechter saved five shots in goal.

Milan 3, Jac-Cen-Del 0 – 25-8, 25-12, 25-19 – Milan’s Lexi Hanson did it all with 10 kills, 2 aces, and 2 digs. Courtney Bruns made 10 digs and 2 aces. Maddy Schmidt had 8 kills. Kaitlyn Tuttle added 8 digs and 6 aces while Avery Getz had 4 kills, 2 aces and 18 assists.
