BASEBALL

East Central 5, South Dearborn 2 – East Central’s Jack Hutchins had a double and 2 RBI to lead the Trojans to the EIAC win. Zach Henson and Corey Hoog each added a hit and an RBI for EC. Eli Kramer had a hit, a walk, 2 stolen bases, and 2 runs. Simon Williams pitched 5 for EC, earning the win.  He gave up 2 earned runs in the outing.  Zach Monhollen pitched 2 in relief for a 6-out save.South Dearborn’s Tristan Rinehart had 2 hits, including a 2-run double.

Lawrenceburg 3, Batesville 1 – Austin Weimer, Payton Hartman, and Blake Buddenburg each recorded an RBI for Lawrenceburg. LHS starter Eli Helton went the distance over 7.0 innings with 12 strikeouts with 4 hits, 2 walks, and no earned runs allowed. Quinn Werner had two hits for Batesville.

Franklin County 6, Greensburg 5 – Franklin County’s Kendall McCool pitched all seven innings, scattering six hits and zero runs while striking out nine and walking none. Maggie Wendel knocked in the game’s only run in the third inning with an RBI single.

BOYS GOLF

Batesville bested East Central, Lawrenceburg, and Oldenburg Academy in a meet at Hillcrest Country Club on Thursday. The Bulldogs’ Tristian Lampert was the medalist.

Southwestern took a three-team event over Switzerland County and Milan on Thursday. Team scoring was Southwestern 168, Switz 186, and Milan 189. Southwestern’s Hunter Mefford was the meet medalist with a card of 42 shots.

TRACK & FIELD

The Lawrenceburg boys were the best at the six-team Rising Sun Invitational Track & Field Meet on Thursday. Lawrenceburg’s 142 points bested second-place South Dearborn’s 122. Jennings County won the girls team trophy with 174 points, and South Dearborn was again in second with 110. Batesville claimed the boys and girls titles at the annual Ripley County Track & Field Championship Meet held Thursday at Batesville High School. Milan was second in both the boys and girls team standings. South Ripley junior Megan Cole set new meet records in two events. She won the girls 1600 meter run at 5:31.41 and the girls 3200 meter run at 11:43.91. Jac-Cen-Del’s Garrett Boor, a junior, tied a meet record in the boys high jump at 5’10”.
