INDIANAPOLIS - Twenty players have been nominated but only one can be voted the Indy Star Girls Soccer Player of the Year.
Among the 20 nominees are Lawrenceburg High School junior Aubree LaBazzo and East Central senior Rylee Schloss.
LaBazzo played a pivotal role in helping the Lady Tigers capture the Class 2A State Championship. Playing at center back, LaBazzo led a Tigers defense that allowed on seven goals all season.
The Tigers capped off their season with back-to-back shutouts against Brebeuf Jesuit (1-0) and Mishawaka Marian (0-0, 4-1 in PKs).
Schloss, an Eastern Illinois commit, allowed just three goals this season, with 17 shutouts - helping lead the Trojans to a final four appearance. Schloss allowed just 20 goals in her varsity career (76 games).
The 20 nominees for Indy Star Girls Soccer Player of the Year were compiled from across the state based on All-State selections, individual statistics, coach input and team success.
LaBazzo was an ISCA Third Team All-State selection earlier this month. Schloss earned Secong Team honrs.
She is currently sixth in the voting for player of the year, while Schloss ranks 12th. To cast your vote for LaBazzo and Schloss, visit Who is Indiana high school girls soccer player of year for 2024?.
