INDIANAPOLIS - ORVC and sectional rivals will begin the 2025 Indiana High School Softball Season ranked in Class A.
According to the Softball Coaches Association of Indiana, Rising Sun will begin the season as the top-ranked team in Class A after receiving 72 first place votes.
Milan received 12 votes, ranking 14th.
The Shiners went 26-2 (10-0 in ORVC) last season, capturing a sectional championship and a regional title before losing in the Class A Final Four. Rising Sun returns a plethora of talent this spring, including All-ORVC selections Ryan Works, Lily Courtney and Elaina Titkemeyer.
Works led the Shiners in hitting as a sophomore with a .506 average, 10 home runs, and 35 RBI. Courtney hit .429 last season with 34 RBI, while Titkemeyer hit .350 and was excellent in the pitching circle going 13-2 with 116 strikeouts and a 2.41 ERA.
Other returning key contributors include Tamryn Miller, Hannah Kremer, Reese Merica, Alyssa Walcott, and Lexi Morris.
Rising Sun will begin the 2025 season when they host Lawrenceburg on April 2.
For Milan, the Indians went 19-13 last season, finishing in second place in the ORVC with an 8-2 record in conference play. Chloe Hunter was Milan's lone senior last season. They return three all-conference selections in Kynadee Bode, Mallory Eaglin and Emma Voss.
Bode was named to the SCAI 1A/2A First Team All-State Team last season. She hit .565 with four home runs and a team-high 47 RBI. She also went 16-6in the pitching circle with a 3.04 ERA and 221 strikeouts in 175 innings pitched.
Eaglin hit .485 as a sophomore with 41 RBI. Voss was a .352 hitter with a team-high 46 runs scored.

Milan will open up their season this week with a tournament game against Mountain Home (Arkansas)
